Given the extremely personal nature of a coaching relationship it is vital that we get to know each other in advance of working together to determine whether we are a good fit. You need to determine if I'm the right coach for you and I need to establish if I can meet your requirements.
This is a complimentary, no obligation conversation which typically takes 30 - 60 minutes.
If the coaching relationship is to be a success, the overall purpose of the coaching programme, the obligations of the coach, coachee and the line manager or ‘sponsor’ need to be agreed upfront. I recommend that a contracting for the programme conversation takes place prior to our first coaching session. Building on the discovery (chemistry) session it would enable us to define your overarching goal and determine how we want to work together.
A lot can happen for a coachee in between coaching sessions and it is important that you provide me with a brief up-date of where you are at the outset of our session and what you want to work on in the session. In creating a safe and productive thinking space for you I typically check that your chosen topic aligns with your overarching goal, the manner in which you want to be supported and challenged [in relation to this topic] and anything else you might need from me in this session..
Anywhere between 60 and 120 minutes ... I typically work with 90 minute sessions.
No problem ... coaching typically takes place in a dynamic environment and your context may change whilst you are working through your coaching programme. I regularly re-contract with my coachees when they need to change or modify their overarching goal or the goal or desired outcome in a particular session.
Again this is something that I experience with my coachees on a regular basis ... its a key sign that our coaching relationship is efficient and effective. Essentially you have two options ... identify a new overarching goal for the remaining sessions or bring the programme to an end. There is no obligation to continue with a coaching programme that has achieved its purpose.
No problem ... it's essential that you're in the right mindset for all of your coaching sessions and working at a pace that is right for you. I just need 24 hours notice of your need to take a break or to postpone one of your sessions.
I reserve the right to make a cancellation charge [25% of the fee] if there is a lack of sufficient notice.
I ask my self-funding coachees to pay for each session via bank transfer at least 24 hours before the session.
Most of my coachees opt for a recording of their sessions and I provide these immediately after each session.
I retain all recordings that I download [in accordance with GDPR] for the period of the coaching programme and remove them from my system after our final session
A key part of the Contracting for the Programme is to establish upfront how you will know that you have achieved your overarching goal. So it's important that we identify specific key performance indicators or measures for your desired outcomes. Your progress towards these is continually evaluated throughout and on completion of your programme to ensure a return on your investment and the delivery of value in your coaching experience.

The role of the sponsor is two fold in terms of supporting the coachee to undertake significant personal and professional development and funding the coaching programme.
I typically offer a complimentary, no-obligation briefing session to potential sponsors of coachees in order to establish if I can meet their requirements. Likewise to enable them to determine if I'm the right coach for the coachee and/or their organisation.
Likewise I offer a complimentary, no-obligation discovery (chemistry) session for the potential coachee based on the briefing received from their sponsor. This enables us to discuss your perception of their personal and professional development needs alongside their own thoughts so as to determine whether I can meet both parties requirements.
If you engage me as a coach I would organise a tripartite coaching for the programme meeting for us to determine the specific details of how we will work together and co-create the coach-coaches-sponsor coaching relationship.
All coaching sessions are confidential. I can provide feedback on the stage the coachee is at with their coaching programme but it is entirely upto the coachee whether they wish to share any element of their coaching journey or contents of their coaching sessions with you as their sponsor.
I would encourage you to discuss this with the coachee during their programme and for the coachee to share with me during our coaching sessions.
I might also suggest that we engage in another tripartite meeting to discuss if this would be helpful.
As above I would encourage you to discuss this with the coachee during their programme and for the coachee to share with me.
In this case it is likely that we would need to engage in another tripartite meeting to jointly agree the changes or amendments.
The sponsor's involvement in determining how the return on investment and delivery of value from the coaching programme can be evaluated is essential. Specially you need to be able to identify specific measures such as key performance indicators or measures that can be used as the basis for evaluating each of the coaching sessions and the programme as a whole.
It is important for coachees and their sponsors to be fully invested in the coaching programme to achieve the best outcome but I recognise that significant distractions or heavy workloads can affect the mindset of coachees and their ability to be fully present in their session(s).
As above I need just 24 hours notice of the need for your coachee to take a break or postpone their coaching programme.
I reserve the right to make a cancellation charge [25% of the fee] if there is a lack of sufficient notice.
No all recordings belong to the coachee and are strictly confidential unless they want to share them with you.
Payment in full via bank transfer (at least 24 hours before the commencement of the coaching programme) is required for those who are sponsored by their Organisation.
